Synopsis

"Down Among the Dead" Silver Surfer appears before living skeletons trying to kill him. He wonders if he is hallucinating from the virus he is carrying. One thing he does know is that he has no powers. The beings claim they are the billions of lives the Surfer is responsible for from being the herald of Galactus. He tells them that he has been forgiven by all he has wronged and they tell him that they have given no such forgiveness. He is then met by the rotten remains of Garnok Rebbahn, who the Surfer himself destroyed. He informs the Surfer that this nether realm is quite real and it is penance for all his past crimes. An overwhelming number of the dead attack the Surfer, who hides in a cave. In the cave he meets a resting Captain Marvel. He informs the Surfer that the dead follow one leader. Marvel says he will distract them so the Surfer can get to the leader. He gives the Surfer a sword and use and he charges into battle. At the leader's tent the Surfer is attacked by his guard, a giant skeleton. Surfer defeats it and enters only to be faced with the Shadow Surfer- his dark side.
